The systemic problem within policing in America is a human problem, therefore, it will require intelligent human solutions. This segment highlights the need for mutual respect between police and the community. Research on predictors of police force size, Posse Comitatus Act, 1033 Program, and other programs used to militarize police departments will be shared. Viewers will be educated on the sweeping police reforms being implemented in New York and Colorado as well as President Trump’s Executive Order on Police Use of Force. Lastly, constitutional rights will be discussed, and viewers will learn several techniques they can implement immediately to help improve police and community relations.
